Job Purpose:
As the General Manager of our new City Express by Marriott hotel, you will oversee all areas of hotel operations to achieve guest and employee satisfaction, ensure quality service, and meet or exceed financial and operational goals. You will be responsible for creating a welcoming environment that aligns with the brand’s values of quality, honesty, peace of mind, innovation, and sustainability.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Operational Leadership:
  • Assume full responsibility for the hotel and its operations, ensuring a seamless and stress-free experience for guests.
  • Manage the operational and fiscal activities of all hotel departments, including staffing levels, budgets, and financial goals.
  • Plan and implement systems and procedures to improve operational quality and efficiency.
  • Guest and Employee Satisfaction:
  • Ensure the hotel meets or exceeds guest satisfaction scores and productivity goals.
  • Foster a welcoming and efficient environment that reflects the City Express by Marriott brand promise of comfort, convenience, and value.
  • Supervise and support staff in accordance with company policies, ensuring a high level of employee satisfaction and performance.
  • Strategic Planning and Problem Solving:
  • Analyze business processes and develop innovative solutions to enhance efficiencies and guest experiences.
  • Coordinate and implement solutions from process analysis and departmental projects.
  • Direct staff in the development, analysis, and preparation of reports to support decision-making.
  • Team Development and Management:
  • Recruit, train, and mentor new management and staff, ensuring alignment with the brand’s values and standards.
  • Establish employee goals, conduct performance reviews, and provide ongoing feedback and development opportunities.
  • Oversee staff scheduling, including work assignments, training, vacations, and shift rotations.
  • Compliance and Communication:
  • Ensure all hotel operations comply with local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
  • Maintain open communication with the Director of Operations and other senior management.
  • Complete Human Resources documentation in accordance with company policies and timelines.
  • Brand Representation:
  • Uphold the City Express by Marriott brand values of quality, honesty, innovation, and sustainability in all aspects of hotel operations.
  • Participate in brand and corporate training, meetings, and events as required.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Travel as needed to attend brand and corporate training, meetings, and events.
  • Perform special projects and additional responsibilities as assigned.
  • Participate in hotel task forces and committees to support brand initiatives.

Job Requirements:

  • Experience:
  • Minimum of two years of previous General Manager experience in a mid scale hotel
  • Previous experience with Marriott or Hilton brands is preferred.
  • Skills and Knowledge:
  • Advanced knowledge of Rooms, Sales, and Food and Beverage operations.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to resolve complex issues.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence and engage both staff and guests.
  • Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift and move 50 lbs. without restriction.
