What are the responsibilities and job description for the Project Controller position at City Facilities Management Ltd?
POSITION SUMMARY
The Project Controller serves as a leader, subject matter expert, and teammate on all project financial matters. This includes costing, analysis, billing, and some collection responsibilities. There are dotted line responsibilities with the Billing Supervisor related to the projects that are financially run through that position.
Reports to : VP of Finance
Location : Burlington, MA Office (required in office MTW)
Number of Direct Reports : 3 (10 total)
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Project Controller contributes to company success by driving compliant, accurate, and timely project finances and is a champion of continuous improvement efforts to monitor and analyze costs, increase cash flow, and develop solid working relationships with clients.
Job duties of the Project Controller include :
- Providing leadership for the team, ensuring proper procedures are followed and maintaining consistent methods & standards.
- Manage the Billing Supervisors, Contract Admin Supervisor, and their teams.
- Responsible for performance management, coaching, cross training and professional learning and development of all staff members.
- Provide support to VP of Finance and ensure open communication on all matters or as directed.
- Educate Operations in Construction Project Finance and Reporting.
- Work with Operations, Project Managers, Finance team, and Billing staff to track project statuses including progress billings, job costing, and other analyses.
- Ensure approved projects are updated in the system with assignment of job numbers, relevant job information, schedule of values and job cost module requirements including purchase and change orders.
- Maintain construction budget files and check contracts prior to billing and make necessary corrections to facilitate accurate billings.
- WIP management including reporting, analysis and management of open items and unbilled commitments.
- Review invoices for accuracy before they are sent to Clients.
- Conduct collection attempts via phone, email, and interpersonal communication.
- Build relationships with the client representatives.
- Review all processes for efficiency; recommend and implement changes.
- Other duties as required.
