Job Summary
The Director of Community Ministries is responsible for managing everyday operations of case management and basic needs services for neighbors who come to City Light Community Ministries. This includes, but is not limited to, training volunteers, creating reports, and maintaining positive relationships with neighbors and community partners alike. Key skills required include the ability to multi-task and to provide trauma informed care in response to various crisis situations.
Duties
1) Oversee management, planning, and facilitation of City Light Community Ministries, including the Personal Assistance Program, Case Management Program, Sunday morning worship, shower ministry, clothing ministry, mail service, etc.
2) Prepare and distribute necessary reports regarding City Light Community Ministries.
3) Conduct an annual evaluation of the community ministries.
4) Participate in meetings and training provided by First Baptist Church and partner organizations.
5) Build and maintain constructive relationships with employees, volunteers, neighbors, and partner organizations.
6) Engage in activities to secure funding for CLCM through fundraising, grant writing, and other forms of donor engagement.
7) Represent City Light in the community through active participation in the West Texas Homeless Network.
8) Curate and maintain a digital presence for CLCM.
Position Guidelines:
- The Director of Community Ministries shall be an employee of City Light Community Ministries, supervised by the Pastor for Missions.
- Terms of employment of the Director of Community Ministries shall be governed by the policies of the First Baptist Church of Abilene, TX.
- The Director of Community Ministries will exercise care and concern for City Light Ministry staff and volunteers, neighbors, missional partners, and First Baptist Church members, acting with integrity in all relationships.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor/Master in Social Work (LBSW/LMSW preferred)
- Strong supervisory background
- Minimum 2 years nonprofit experience
- Experience working with marginalized populations
- Proven communication skills (verbal, written, and electronic)
