Summary
City Market is seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Category Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and executing category strategies that drive sales and profitability. This role requires strong analytical skills, market knowledge, and the ability to bring a fresh perspective to the role when collaborating with cross-functional teams.
The role of the Category Manager is to support the goals of the Co-op by maintaining oversight of vendor relationship development, category management, pricing and margin control, product procurement, and promotional programming for revenue-generating departments at all City Market locations.
The Category Manager is responsible for coordinating and monitoring costs and retail pricing to achieve budgeted margin targets, and planning and taking corrective action if necessary. The Category Manager will develop, implement, and maintain core retail systems to facilitate smooth operations that support the financial stability of the Co-op.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years’ retail or related experience.
- Minimum of 3 years’ buying experience.
- Knowledge of applied pricing margins and monitoring methods required.
- Experience in maintenance of multiple promotional programs preferred.
- Experience working with budgets and adhering to cost and margin requirements preferred.
- Knowledge of the natural, organic, and/or specialty food industries preferred.
Technical Skills
- Experience with POS applications and inventory management systems preferred.
- Solid understanding of Microsoft Office Suite with an emphasis on Microsoft Excel.
- Public speaking and presentation skills are essential.
