WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?
The Corporate Communications Manager reports to the Senior Manager of Corporate Communications and manages a team of communications specialists tasked to promote and protect City National's brand internally and/or externally and. This individual works with internal stakeholders to execute strategies that promote the bank's brand reputation and growth. The Manager will impact productivity by streamlining strategic initiatives, overseeing program/project management, and overseeing operations in collaboration with the Senior Manager, with a particular focus on change manager and risk management communications. serves as operations and project manager, particularly on change management and risk management communications. The manager also coordinates communications projects with other departments in Marketing, Product, and Digital (MPAD), including oversite of Adobe's Workfront software. The Manager will also provide operational support in assisting the Senior Manager in overseeing the overall communications function including all sub-groups (e.g., internal, external, crisis). The Manager assists in developing and implementing the overalls team's vision and strategy and ensures it aligns with business objectives, supports growth efforts enterprise priorities and builds and protects the brand internally and externally.The Manager may provide leadership through individual contributors or supervisors and manages the coordination of the activities of a team or department with responsibilities for results including methods and staffing.Manages through team leads and individual contributors, the coordination of the activities of a team or department with responsibilities for results including costs, methods and staffing

What you will do
- Supports the development and implementation of the vision and strategy for the Communications team in conjunction with the Senior Manager, ensuring alignment with business objectives, division priorities, and enterprise priorities
- Oversees daily operations in collaboration with the Senior Manager, including identifying opportunities for increased efficiency and responsiveness of existing operations
- Operationalizes and tracks the success of strategies set in alignment with the Senior Manager, particularly across Change Management and Risk Management Communications
- Protects brand and manages reputation risk though crisis strategy and communications
- Oversee internal and external response to crisis situations via crisis strategy and communications to protect the brand and limit reputation risk exposure
- Amplifies brand externally with thought leadership and media appearances for top executives
- Inspires colleagues with communications on brand mission
- Oversees, plans, edits and/or writes content for a variety of internal or external mediums (i.e., speeches, announcements, executive communications, internal news articles, thought leadership content, etc. as aligned with sub-groups)
- Develops strategies and communications plans that align to business goals
- Leads, coaches, and retains a strong team of communicators
- Oversees all aspects of the employee lifecycle (hiring, coaching, performance management and development, offboarding) as aligned with subgroups
- Serves as primary point of contact for certain executives, media/press outlets, and/or infoLink NEWS, as aligned with sub-groups
- All other appropriate duties as required
- Participates in hiring, counseling, termination, coaching on performance and development, and may recommend pay actions
Must-Have*
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
- 8 years of relevant experience in Journalism, editing, AP Style, business background a plus
- 8 years of experience in speech writing, public relations or social media platforms
- 5 years of management experience

- Ability to manage multiple competing priorities
- Master's degrees in English, Journalism, Public Relations or related communications field pre
- Finance/banking background preferred
- Journalism, editing, AP Style, business background a plus
- Excellent writing and copy-editing skills required
- Must be able to provide high attention to detail
- Knowledge and proficiency in social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.)
- Must possess an interpersonal style that enables effective relationships with peers and senior executives in the execution of job responsibilities
- Strong background in corporate communications, business writing, media relations and digital communications
- Must be capable of working well independently and in teams
Compensation
Starting base salary: $122,535 - $208,715 per year. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. This job is eligible for bonus and/or commissions.
