What are the responsibilities and job description for the Library Director position at City of Abbeville?
The Director will be a city employee who will work directly with and report to the Library Board of Trustees to fulfill the library's mission of serving the community. Responsibilities of this position include guiding the library through good management and supervision of personnel, library resources, services, budget, facilities, programs, and collections.
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum:
Education requirements: A four year degree from an accredited college or university Skills:
- Desire to develop a vibrant community library
- Good people skills to work with staff, city, and library patrons
- Computer skills
- Ability to learn the various aspects of job, including collection development, budgeting, reports, and encouraging library use by those of all ages.
Preferred:
Education: Master's Degree in Library Science
OR
Three years experience in a lead position of a public or school library. Skills: the skill qualifications listed in the minimum requirements.
