The City of Aiken is accepting applications for Summer Day Camp Counselors in our Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Department.This temporary position is for the H. Odell Weeks Activities Center. The Summer Day Camp Counselor will provide direct supervision of a group of children between the ages of 5 and 12. Day Camp Counselors foster a positive, inclusive, and safe environment. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of young campers while gaining valuable leadership and interpersonal skills.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Planning daily activities for campers indoors (arts, crafts, games, etc.) and outdoors (sports, swimming, nature experiences, etc.)Driving/chaperoning weekly outings Interacting positively with children during all hours of campAdhering to program standards for safety and cleanlinessAttending staff meetings and trainingsFollowing City policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention, and emergenciesMaintaining positive relations with parents and other staffHours are primarily Monday-Friday, 7:00 am - 5:30 pm, but there may be some evenings and weekends required based on camp needs. Working dates are May 21st, 22nd, and May 27, 2025 - July 18, 2025 (closed on July 4).
