*** Target start dates: May 19 - 23, 2025 ***Under general supervision, performs daily work assignments for the Recreation Center Division of the Parks and Recreation Department in accordance with the Employee Manual, Department Policies and Procedures, City of Alamogordo Ordinances, and any applicable State or Federal authority.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Required: Must be at least 18 years of age;High school diploma or GED;One (1) year of experience working with children (i.e., teaching, coaching, volunteering in clubs or organizations focused on group activities for boys and girls, babysitting);Valid CPR and First Aid certificates or the ability to obtain them within thirty (30) days of hire;Valid New Mexico Driver’s License with a driving record acceptable to the City of Alamogordo;Or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.Desired: Experience organizing or participating in recreational group activities.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Work is typically performed outdoors and indoors and may be subject to inclement weather conditions;Daily physical labor that includes extended periods of sitting, standing, kneeling, bending, reaching, climbing, and running for short periods of time;Lift and/or move items weighing up to fifty (50) pounds; the lifting of any object greater than fifty (50) pounds by a single individual is prohibited. Lifting objects, materials, or equipment weighing more than fifty (50) pounds requires the buddy system or the use of devices designed to assist with lifting or moving. Proper lifting techniques shall be used when lifting items of any weight;May be exposed to hazardous road conditions while walking children from one location to another;Risk of physical injury while participating in sports and fitness activities;Hazards include exposure to insects, rodents, snakes, and other wildlife typical of the southwest;The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud;Terrain may be uneven or undeveloped;May be exposed to hazardous chemicals, contaminants, and pathogens; andRequired to wear activity-appropriate attire and close-toed footwear and may also include personal protective equipment (PPE) appropriate for job assignments.
