What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-Time Groundskeeper position at City of Albany, Georgia?
The purpose of this classification is to maintain grounds and facilities at assigned city owned property.Maintains grounds, facilities, and irrigation systems of assigned city owned property.
Performs routine grounds keeping tasks such as mowing, edging, weeding, mulching, raking, collecting trash, cleaning sidewalks and parking lots, clearing brush and stumps, applying insecticide/herbicide, maintaining ball fields, and performing related tasks; hauls collected trash to the landfill.
Performs landscaping tasks such as designing flower beds, planting trees, shrubs and flowers, laying sod, seeding grass, pruning, gathering soil samples, and related tasks.
May install and repair playground equipment, picnic tables, dugouts, and/or bleachers; may replace water sprinkler pipes; installs and mends fences; may line and pour ball fields; may lay out football fields.
Performs routine maintenance and cleaning tasks; cleans bathrooms, replenishes restroom supplies, replaces light bulbs,
paints inside and outsides of facilities as needed.
May train, supervise and assign work of volunteers, part-time employees, inmate labor, and students; ensures adherence to safety standards.
Operates a variety of grounds keeping/maintenance equipment such as a dump truck, backhoe, blowers, mowers, weed eaters, tillers, trenchers, seeders, shovels, plumbing, mechanical, and carpentry tools, and related equipment.
Performs routine maintenance on grounds keeping equipment; performs minor repairs as needed.
Maintains materials and supplies; purchases plant inventory.
Performs minor vehicle maintenance such as washing vehicles, changing tires, and maintaining fluid levels.
Prepares a variety of reports; forwards to supervisor; reports landscape conditions and insect problems; reviews landscaping plans for planting purposes.
May assist with setting up and breaking down furniture, bleachers, floors, sound equipment, and other items for special events.
May perform general carpentry work and plumbing repairs; may repair fans; may replace locks and windows.
May assist in laying out grave patterns, opening/closing graves, and re-inter and disinter graves.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS

Performs other related duties as required.High school diploma or GED required; one (1) year previous experience and/or training involving grounds keeping maintenance preferred; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license.Data Utilization: Requires the ability to determine, calculate, tabulate, or summarize data/information. Includes performing subsequent actions in relation to these computational operations.
