What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cathodic Protection Technician, Gas position at City of Alexandria, LA?
The purpose of this classification is to perform manual and sometimes hazardous work to monitor, maintain, and improve cathodic protection systems for the gas lines and appurtenances. This position is subject to 24-hour call.
Performs examinations and maintenance on shallow well anode beds and appurtenances.
Locates underground electrical shorts in gas system.
Installs anodes and test stations; operates cad welding equipment, when necessary.
Maintains underground and atmospheric corrosion control.
Adjusts and maintains electric system associated with shallow well anode beds and rectifier systems.
Prepares and processes necessary paperwork and reports as required by department policies and procedures.
High school diploma or GED; supplemented by two (3) years of experience in technical maintenance and construction of gas distribution system pipelines, with knowledge of corrosion control and cathodic protection; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess a valid driver’s license. Will be required to obtain a valid State of Louisiana driver’s license at time of appointment and maintain throughout employment for this classification. Must obtain certifications as required by the Office of Pipeline Safety within six months of hire.
Salary : $33,220 - $39,855
