Student Worker Overview
As a student worker for the City of Alexandria, you will be responsible for providing essential office support by assisting in scheduling meetings, copying and filing personnel documents, processing mail and packages, and provide assistance on special projects and tasks for departmental staff.
Duties and responsibilities will include but not limited to:
- 60% Administrative Support: Copying, filing, data entry, monitoring conference room reservations; assist in maintaining supplies for staff, printer, and copiers, collecting and processing mail.
- 30% Reception: Assisting visitors and staff, answering phone calls; following and upholding established policies and procedures.
- 10%: Assisting in departmental special projects and tasks.
Requirements:
Must be at least 16 year of age and currently enrolled in school as a full-time student. If you are enrolled in high school, you will have to provide a workers permit from your school. If you are graduating senior, you will need to provide proof of enrollment in college or technical college. If you are currently enrolled in college or technical college you will need to provide proof of enrollment for your current or next semester. You will also need to provide a state identification card, driver’s license, or a student identification card. This all needs to be provided to the City of Alexandria before orientation.
Work Schedule:
A part-time work scheduled of no more than 29 per week, Monday – Friday, between the hours of 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Pay:
$12.00 per hour
