Summary:
The Maintenance Manager leads the AlexRenew’s Maintenance and Reliability Teams. They are responsible for implementing AlexRenew’s overall reliability and maintenance strategy and the daily leadership and management of maintenance staff and resources that facilitate the effective execution of asset maintenance and repair to support the continuous operation of AlexRenew’s Water Resource Recovery Facility and related infrastructure. Work is performed broadly and in collaboration with the Chief Operator; and reports to the Director of Enterprise Utility Asset Management (EUAM). The Manager must work in close coordination with other AlexRenew Departments including Plant Operations, Safety, Finance, and Engineering to meet its performance goals
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Leadership, Management, and Relationship-Building (30%)
- Leads, plans, organizes, directs day-to-day operations related to the reliability and maintenance and repair of all AlexRenew infrastructure (i.e., wastewater treatment plant, pump stations, facilities, buildings, building systems, grounds, large diameter tunnels, and sewer lines).
- Build and maintain clear communication and close cooperation with all relevant internal and external stakeholders.
- Evaluates staff work for accuracy and compliance with department standards and with all local, state, and federal requirements.
- Responds to emergencies while always placing the safety of personnel first.
- Assists with developing and implementing goals and objectives for plant reliability and maintenance, and plans system improvements.
- Assists in the coaching, mentoring, training, performance goal setting and professional development of departmental staff.
- Oversees and initiates actions for the hiring, transfer, promotion, payroll, leaves, performance and other personnel actions for direct and indirect reports, as required.
- Confers with reliability and maintenance team supervisors, Chief Operator and planners on technical problems; assists in integration and coordination of plant conversions, alterations and additions; meets with engineering staff, consultants and contractors in connection with these programs.
- Generate and implement ideas that improve safety, quality and cost, in line with equipment service and compliance goals.
Development and Execution of Reliability and Maintenance Strategy (50%)
- Reviews and analyzes asset performance and reliability and maintenance processes and develops/revises AlexRenew’s reliability and maintenance strategy and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to improve efficiency, cost effectiveness and regulatory compliance.
- Oversees the prioritization of preventative maintenance (PM), corrective maintenance (CM), and predictive maintenance (PDM) to assure the best operational readiness, and to assure efficient and resilient operations of plant equipment and process units.
- Ensures maximum plant availability through the implementation and use of established reliability principles and optimal asset management.
- Responsible for overall building and facilities maintenance
- Ensures effective management and use of CMMS program and processes.
- Ensures that maintenance is planned and performed in accordance with approved policies and practices.
- Promotes and models safe behaviors; makes sure safe behaviors are embedded in daily work processes; ensures adherence to all health and safety procedures.
Planning, Budgeting, & Contract Management (20%)
- Assists Chief EUAM with strategic short-term and long-term planning in support of operational needs and efficiency
- Performs budgeting and forecasting activities in support of AlexRenew’s Improvement, Renewal, & Replacement, (IR&R) program and the Capital planning process.
- Identifies reliability and maintenance contract needs; reviews Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and Invitation to Bids (IFBs) as needed; manages maintenance contracts and vendors.
- Participates in developing projects scopes and plans for new equipment installations.
- Manages purchasing requests and ensures maintenance expenses are monitored to ensure budget compliance
- Supports Reliability supervisor in managing a cost effective inventory and warehouse system.

Qualification Requirements:

Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Maintenance Technology, Engineering, Asset Management, or related field desired; High School Diploma or Equivalent acceptable with relevant combination of experience/training
- Eight (8) years’ of verifiable professional experience related to operation, maintenance and repair of sewage treatment plants or similar installations or light industrial maintenance experience, including four three (3) years of supervisory and decision-making experience.
- Certified Maintenance & Reliability Technician or other related professional designation preferred; or ability to obtain within one year of continuous employment required.
- Experience with HVAC, plumbing, electrical, wiring and whole facility maintenance; motors and motor control methods; electrical and mechanical troubleshooting techniques; and, SCADA controllers and systems.
- An understanding of Risk Identification and mitigation practices
- An understanding of LEAN, Six Sigma processes and root cause analysis

Some areas of plant are hot and humid at times.
