An Overview
What You Should Bring
The ideal candidate will have working understanding of basic human behavior and social problems specific to older adult population; Knowledge of public assistance programs, community resources and other safety net services for older adults; Ability to deliver services under normal and crisis intervention situations; Ability to interpret laws, policies, and regulations; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, co-workers, social agencies, and the general public; ability to guide clients in the constructive use of their own capabilities; Ability to provide guidance and assistance to interns and volunteers; Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing; Ability to prepare and maintain complete and accurate records.
- Assist older adults with completing and submitting applications for the SNAP benefit;
- Attend community events and other outreach opportunities;
- Collect and manage demographic data on people served;
- Gather and report narrative reports and client stories;
- Build relationships and partnership with agencies and organizations serving older adults;
- Train representatives and volunteers on the SNAP screening and application process;
- Promote SNAP eligibility and overall awareness of incentive programs, such as Farm Market Fresh and Double Dollars at farmer's markets;
- Assists the SNAP Coordinator with organizing community members to identify SNAP obstacles and implement current plan to improve access to SNAP program and nutritious foods;
- Responsible for development of program marketing materials and distribution;
- Assists in the preparation of reports, correspondences, and other administrative tasks;
- Performs related duties as assigned.
