SUMMARY
Under general supervision, this position performs tasks associated with maintaining the public building facilities of the City of Amarillo. Duties include preparing assignments for subordinates, training personnel, preparing warehouse orders, buying requisitions, training personnel on energy management systems and operating maintenance and test equipment. Helps with the supervision of mechanics of a lower grade.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plans and assigns projects.
- Conducts safety training and inspections.
- Orders supplies.
- Performs specialized installation, maintenance and repair functions on various types and / or makes of mechanical equipment including boilers, chillers, compressors, motors, cooling towers, exhaust fans, gas and electric fired heating and air conditioning equipment, sensors, thermostats, ductwork, sheet metal, minor electrical system and control troubleshooting and repair and other building system components.
- Maintains a computerized energy management system.
- Instructs others, ensuring system is utilized correctly to obtain optimum efficiency.
- Makes recommendations on maintenance projects and also on items for budget.
- Performs all maintenance functions of a Building Mechanic, when needed.
- Adheres to all safety standards and corrects any safety hazards found.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
M I NIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Requires a High School Diploma or its equivalent and a minimum of four years of building and facilities maintenance experience, including at least three years of experience installing, maintaining and repairing HVAC and mechanical systems and equipment. Certification HVAC or electrical fields required, or ability to obtain within six months of hire. Valid Teas Driver's License required. Valid Texas Class C Driver's License preferred.
