Salary : $30.00 per hour

Summary :

As an Airport Electrician II, you will have the opportunity to perform journeyman level maintenance, repair and troubleshooting of Airport electrical systems. You will be responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing the Airport electrical systems throughout the terminal building, tenant buildings and the airfield.

Essential Responsibilities :

  • Inspecting and performing preventative electrical maintenance and repairs on baggage handling systems and passenger boarding bridges.
  • Maintaining and repairing the terminal mechanical plants electrical equipment including pumps, valves, boilers, chillers, motors, switchgear, motor control centers, breaker panels, and other components.
  • Surveying the overall condition of the terminal building electrical systems and other airport facilities to determine any repairs and updates that are needed.
  • Troubleshooting motor and PLC controls.
  • Working on the controls for HVAC systems and air handlers.
  • Working on the airfield lighting system.
  • Completing various electrical repairs and maintenance and documenting work completed.
  • Utilize computer skills including email, Microsoft Word and Excel, and computer workorder software.

Minimum Requirements :

  • State of Texas Journeyman's license.
  • 5 years of electrical experience.
  • Strong ability to troubleshoot motor controls and various electrical issues.
  • Two (2) years of building and facility maintenance experience.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience with electrical distribution systems.
  • Experience with emergency electrical distribution systems.
  • Motor controls and PLC experience.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to work independently.
  • Possession of a valid Class C driver's license.
  • Must pass a background check and drug / alcohol screening.
  • A desire to show your expertise in a dynamic work environment.
  • Movement area certified in 45 days and completion of FEMA N.I.M.S. in 30 days of employment.
  • Knowledge Skills and Abilities :

  • Knowledge of conveyor belts or baggage handling systems.
  • Knowledge of access controls, automation controls, surveillance and fire alarms and building automation systems.
  • Knowledge of reading blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Knowledge of NEC and NFPA.
  • Knowledge of airfield lighting and series circuits.
  • Skilled in PLC's, VFD's and motor controls.
  • Skilled in mechanical and electrical repairs in a commercial building setting.
  • Skilled in LED lighting conversions and repairs.
  • Ability to perform electrical and mechanical repairs.
  • Ability to use critical thinking skills and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to repair electrical distribution systems, electrical motors, electrical switchgear, and equipment.
  • Ability to be part of a team in a dynamic work environment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems independently with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to assist in snow removal operations during winter operations.
  • Ability to perform other duties as assigned and as needed and assisting other trades with various projects.
  • Ability to be available for shift work, weekends, holidays and 24-hour callout.

    While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to drive, balance, crouch, feel, finger, handle, pull, push, reach, stand, stoop, climb, see, hear, talk, type, and perform repetitive motions. Also requires the ability to make rational decisions, utilize critical thinking skills and exhibit strong cognitive abilities. The employee is required to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and / or up to 100 pounds of force to move objects.     Work Environment :

    This position works in all weather conditions indoors and outdoors and is subject to 24 hours call out. This position is subject to scheduled shift work anytime from 3 : 45 am until 9 : 30 p.m. 7 days a week. Scheduled shifts work 4 days on, 3 days off, 10-hour shifts. Subject to weekend work and overtime.
