What are the responsibilities and job description for the CONCESSION WORKER position at City of Amarillo?
PAY: $9.00/hr
SUMMARY
Performs front-line gate and concession operation. Accuracy of transactions and cash reconciliation, answering guest questions in a timely and positive manner and striving to exceed guest expectations at all times.
Acts as receptionist by greeting and assisting guests, answering the phone, and providing information concerning the facilities, refers difficult and/or specialized questions to Supervisor.
- Provide a positive first impression to guests by welcoming them to the zoo.
- Ensure that all necessary zoo information is communicated effectively guests have a clear understanding of the Amarillo Zoo experience and all it has to offer (provide maps, brochures, etc.)
- Determines amount of payment from fee schedule, collects payments for admissions, programs, events and rings amount into register.
- Responsible to processing accurate day -to -day cash related transitions from customers. Proper cash counting and making change with little or no error.
- Completes daily revenue collection forms showing monies received and submits to Supervisor with money collected.
- Follow all designated opening and closing procedures to ensure areas are secure, energy efficient, clean, stocked and sanitary.
- Ensures quality, cleanliness, and safety in proper food preparation and compliance with regulatory health standards.
- Must be able to work independently with little or no supervision.
- Responsible for maintaining cleanliness and organization of concessions/admission area and adjoining restrooms during hours of operations and the close of the day.
- Maintain positive relationships with all employees and supervisors.
- Follows established City of Amarillo policies and procedures.
- Regular and punctual attendance.
- Understand and ensure state and city health codes policies are followed.
- Responsible for learning all rules and procedures as they apply to food service and zoo operations.
- Must demonstrate team spirit and support a friendly, efficient work force.
- Must be able to work in fast-paced environment.
- Provide assistance to guests by facilitating rentals of electronic scooters and wheelchairs.
- Performs related duties as required.
Ability to speak English clearly as well as to clearly understand English to ensure information is communicated accurately.
Ability to make sounds decisions and demonstrates good judgment.
Ability to read and write.
Having some prior knowledge/experience in concession/food service is desirable. Previous experience as a cashier helpful.
Knowledge of office procedures and practices.
Knowledge of record keeping procedures.
Knowledge of effective customer service practices.
Skill in booking reservations to ensure availability of facilities.
