Supervised by the Digital Outreach Coordinator, the Digital Navigator collaborates with local organizations and educational partners to build out content, design relevant programs, and support learners in building practical digital skills. This is a flexible position that will primarily focus on content and workforce development but may shift based on evolving digital literacy priorities and community needs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- LMS Content Development & Management
Design, manage, and organize content within the LMS, including uploading existing materials, creating videos and digital resources, and developing curriculum based on learner needs.
- Digital Navigator Program Development
Develop and support digital skills upskilling by collaborating with workforce partners and businesses to identify in-demand digital skills and build workforce-aligned learning pathways.
- Instructional Support (as needed)
Provide occasional instructional support for digital literacy classes or serve as a backup for programs like Silver Surfers or Girls Who Game.
- Flexibility & Project Support
Contribute to evolving digital literacy projects and remain adaptable to meet changing community needs and department priorities.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Content Creation: Strong communication skills for creating engaging and accessible learning content
- Tech Literacy: Familiarity with common software, digital tools, and interest in staying up to date on digital trends
- Project Organization: Ability to manage digital content and help structure a learning platform
- Workforce Awareness: Proactively engage with workforce development partners, local businesses, and internal staff to identify essential digital skills for employment.
- Collaboration: Ability to work with internal teams and external partners to align digital literacy efforts with community needs
- Flexibility: Willingness to take initiative, learn new tools, and shift between tasks in a dynamic, community-centered environment
- Accountability: Track work accurately and document support provided to help evaluate and grow programs
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
No formal education is required, but basic technology experience is preferred. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to teach or be willing to learn teaching techniques. Additionally, the role requires providing support to individuals with varying skill levels, highlighting the importance of empathy and adaptability in assisting users effectively. Strong communication skills, patience, and a customer-centric approach are required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position requires some evening and weekend work, depending on the programs the Digital Navigator is responsible for. It both allows and requires flexibility in scheduling. Candidates must display patience, courtesy, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to establish trust with individuals from diverse backgrounds. The physical requirements may vary, some of which can include carrying equipment and agility in stooping, lifting, and bending. Digital Navigators may be required to stand for varying periods of time.
