SUMMARY
Under the general supervision, this position operates, services, adjusts and repairs Solids’ Handling equipment and delivers sludge to the City of Amarillo’s Landfill for disposal. This position will be required to work shifts including evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime as needed by the department, as well as during inclement weather. This position is considered weather essential personnel.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Checks tires, tracks, oil, lubricant, water levels and fuel levels.
- Maintains and operates sludge presses, pumps and conveyors.
- Operated and maintains polymer feed system.
- Changes flats on tractor-trailer.
- Operates a front-end loader and dump truck.
- Operates a tractor-trailer type container hauling system.
- Washes and maintains equipment.
- Monitors oil changes and lubrications according to manufacturer's recommendations.
- Prepares maintenance records.
- Adjusts and repairs equipment, as needed.
- Completes landfill records and fuel usage reports.
- Takes samples as required by reporting agencies.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) and a minimum of two (2) years of experience in the operation of light and medium construction equipment and trucks. A valid Texas Class A CDL Driver’s License is required, a Tanker "N" endorsement is preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Ability to operate front-end loaders and dump trucks.
- Ability to operate and repair small/light equipment, such as power tools.
- Ability to operate sludge belt presses, conveyors, and pumps.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to operate small office equipment, including copy machines or multi-line telephone systems.
- Ability to operate computers for data entry and word processing.
