What are the responsibilities and job description for the Messenger position at City of Amarillo?
SALARY: $13.50 per hour
SUMMARY
This position is responsible for making deliveries of supplies between the Fire Department's facilities and various other locations. This position may include additional responsibilities, such as ordering supplies, typing processing paperwork, answering phones, inventory, etc.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Pick up and delivers supplies ordered by Fire personnel.
- Sources items from local vendors to fill supply orders.
- Delivers and unloads ordered supplies and internal correspondence to all fire stations regularly.
- Provides an incomplete assignments update to direct supervisor at the end of each shift.
- Provide light janitorial duties at various fire facilities.
- Adhere to Policy 1013-Conduct and Behavior, Policy 1027-Personal Appearance Standards, Policy 1028-Uniform Regulations, and City of Amarillo Operating Procedures manual.
- Maintains assigned vehicle in a good, clean operating condition.
- Completes assigned documentation in a timely manner.
- May be required to make additional runs or deliveries in emergency situations outside of scheduled hours.
- Performs other job related duties as assigned.
- Follow established City of Amarillo Purchasing Policies.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
This position requires a High School Diploma or GED, and a valid Driver’s License. Out-of-state employees must have a valid Texas driver’s license within 90 days.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of safety practices and safety equipment associated.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to operate a 1-ton truck with a lift gate, passenger car, or a van.
- Ability to safeguard sensitive or confidential information.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, often without direct supervision, throughout the day.
- Ability to operate computers for data entry and word processing.
- Ability to operate small office equipment, including copy machines or multi-line telephone systems.
- Ability to routinely lift, load, and unload supplies up to 50lbs.
