SALARY: $30.57/hour
HOURS: Monday thru Thursday, 40-hour work week, with the ability to work additional hours if needed.
SUMMARY
As part of the leadership of Amarillo Public Health, this position performs public health management activities for the Amarillo Area Public Health District in the Immunizations program.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervises the activities of the grant funded Immunizations program staff and budgets.
- Assesses vaccination records and administer vaccinations for adults and children.
- Evaluates overseas vaccination records.
- Documents all patient interactions in the electronic medical record.
- Maintains patient confidentiality and complies with HIPAA requirements.
- Maintains multiple vaccine inventory supplies including timely ordering, reporting, inventory control and proper storage.
- If bilingual, provides translations services for patients as needed.
- Collaborates with partners and stakeholders in the community, as needed.
- Leads the Vaccine Champions Coalition meeting quarterly.
- Timely and accurately submits data for quarterly and annual statistics reports.
- Ensures timely completion of administrative tasks.
- Assists with the Community Health Assessment.
- Represents Amarillo Public Health on community committees and at outreach events.
- Participates in and attends team meetings, staff meetings, department meetings, in-service trainings, committees and other related activities as necessary.
- Accounts for and manages the City property assigned to the department and participates in inventories.
- Participates in Public Health Emergency Preparedness and Response activities.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Requires an associate degree in nursing, licensed as a Registered Nurse in Texas, and CPR certification. Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred. A minimum of two years’ experience in a leadership role or medical field. Bilingual in Spanish preferred. Experience with immunizations, pediatric patients and community outreach preferred. Valid Texas Driver’s License and reliable transportation with proof of current insurance are required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of immunizations and the immunizations schedule for adults and children.
- Knowledge of TVFC and ASN programs.
- Knowledge of the Public Health ten essential functions.
- Knowledge of the HIPAA Privacy Act.
- Knowledge of the design and presentation of training programs.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Skills to use a computer with Microsoft Office for data entry, word processing and accounting purposes.
- Skills to operate small office equipment, including a multi-function copy machine, fax machine and multi-line telephone systems.
- Ability to analyze an immunization record, determine immunizations needed, and to administer immunizations to children and adults.
- Ability to work with a culturally diverse population.
- Ability to handle confidential information in an appropriate manner.
- Ability to travel out of town for trainings and seminars.
- Ability to work an after-hours schedule as required.
- Ability to drive to off-site locations in Potter and Randall counties to assist providers, and to attend meetings and outreach events.
- Ability to quickly change focus and priorities to address competing priorities, as necessary.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies and the public.
