Lake Gardner Beach Manager

The City of Amesbury (estimated population 18,000), a dynamic Merrimack Valley community rich in tradition with a vibrant and expanding economic base, is seeking a strong candidate for Lake Gardner Beach Manager.

HOURS OF WORK: 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. most days, weekends required

CLASSIFICATION: Full-time, temporary (approx. 40 hours/week)

COMPENSATION: $ 20/ hr-$25/hr no benefits

Position Purpose: Oversee day to day operations and communications for Lake Gardner Beach, especially in relation to public health regulations and issues.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Presents professional attitude at all times and maintains a high standard of customer service.

· Maintains surveillance of patrons in the facility, acts immediately and appropriately to secure safety of patrons in the event of emergency.

· Performs various maintenance duties as needed/directed to maintain a clean and safe facility and equipment.

· Prepares and maintains appropriate activity reports, etc.

· Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

· Act as main point of contact with departments such as public health, police, public works, recreation, and other stakeholders; communicate any issues.

· Calculates and submits payroll on a bi-weekly basis.

· Prepares summer report the last week of the season to the Recreation Department and Mayor and make recommendations for the future.

SUPERVISION

Director of Recreation or Assistant Director of Recreation.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALITIES

• Must always act and look professional.
• Must have ability to communicate effectively and professionally to the public regarding rules and procedures.
• Knowledge of some first aid and emergency medical procedures.
• Must have a friendly demeanor, able to act calmly, handle conflict, and resolve issues in a peaceful and timely manner.
• Must be able to explain basic directions and rules to members of the public;

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• One year of experience working with the public or in customer service;
• Must have valid driver's license and access to a vehicle during work shift;
• Must be able to pass a CORI check.
• High school graduate or equivalent.

DESIRED QUALITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants will gain special consideration if they have the following qualities or qualifications:

· Must be age 21

· Must be able to work weekends and holidays.

· One year of experience working with the public or in customer service.

· Must be able to pass a CORI check.

· High school graduate or equivalent.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Work environment is outside at Lake Gardner Beach in Amesbury. Applicants must be able to dress appropriately for any type of weather. Must be able to stand for several hours at a time. Must be able to handle varying levels of noise and activities. Standing, walking, bending, crouching, seeing, hearing, talking, carrying, climbing, and the ability to lift 50 lbs. is required.

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
