The City of Anaheim Planning Department is seeking highly motivated, detail-oriented, and outgoing Part Time Planning Aide. The Part Time Planning Aide will assist with the day-to-day operation of the city's Public Planning Counter. Candidates must possess a high degree of customer-savvy written and oral communications skills, thrive in a multi-tasking, deadline-driven environment, and possesses a strong office skill set which include proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Illustrator.
Applications are highly desired from those currently enrolled in a master's program, or those who have earned a bachelor's or master's degree in the area of Urban Planning or a related field from an accredited university program. Prior public counter customer service experience is a plus.

Education Requirements:
- Currently enrolled in a Master’s program or
- Bachelor's/Master’s degree in Urban Planning or a related field from an accredited university
Position Details:
- Hours: 20–30 hours per week (no guaranteed minimum)
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, between 8 AM – 5 PM (flexible)
- Assist staff in the collection, research, and analysis of data.
- Assist staff with preparation of written reports and recommendations related to zoning, land use and other related fields or issues.
- Review applications for compliance with ordinances, and departmental policies and procedures. Prepare preliminary reports concerning actions for the Planning Commission with the assistance of management staff.
- Respond to inquiries from the general public, development community, and City officials and staff; assist in interpreting provisions of ordinances.
- Review development plans for compliance with code and program requirements.
- Assist in reviewing business licenses. Assist in developing code amendments, coordinate activities with other staff.
- Maintain and updates various contracts, records, and resources.
- Coordinate projects and programs with other departments and agencies to meet established deadlines.
- May attend public hearings and other meetings as needed.
- Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
Knowledge of: basic principles, practices, methods and procedures of urban planning, development, zoning; research methods and sources of information related to urban growth and development; basic principles, practices, methods and procedures of data collection and research techniques; general building practices as they relate to plan review; personal computer operation and relevant software applications as it relates to planning and zoning.
Ability to: analyze, organize and systematically compile technical and statistical information, and prepare routine reports; team laws, codes, ordinances and regulations regarding general plans, zoning and land division; learn applicable environmental laws and regulations and methods of assessment: use personal computer and related software; participate in a variety of public and board meetings as necessary; respond to public requests and inquiries; understand and carry out oral and written directions; prepare clear and concise reports; communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work including a variety of City officials, staff and the general public.
Salary : $61,069 - $77,938
