Function
The City of Ankeny has a need for an individual who is interested in helping maintain the golf course and surrounding grounds at the Otter Creek Golf Course.
Starting wage is $18.00/hour
Hours are 6am-2:30pm, Monday-Friday, with some required overtime for weekend work.
Position will begin in April and end in mid-November 2025. Pre-employment drug screen and background check required.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Irrigation repair and maintenance of irrigation systems.
- Changing pin locations.
- Landscapes as directed, including mowing, string trimming, and raking sand traps.
- Makes regular rounds to inspect conditions, pick up trash, and remove debris from the golf course grounds.
- Assists in division building maintenance to keep buildings and grounds clean and neat appearing.
- Other grounds maintenance activities as needed.
Entry Requirements and Skills
- Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
- Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods under adverse weather conditions.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the public.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Shall maintain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Iowa.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Work in extreme weather conditions.
- Works in field environment.
- Must be insurable.
- Must be sighted.
- Must be able to hear normal conversation.
- Must be able to speak clearly at normal rate of conversation.
- Must be able to knee, squat, stoop, walk, and climb.
- Must be able to work in wet or dry trenches.
- Must be able to move up and down ladders and walk over uneven terrain.
- Must be able to lift heavy objects weighing up to 75 pounds and carries for short distances.
- Must keep regular and reliable attendance at work.
