What are the responsibilities and job description for the PART TIME - COURT BAILIFF position at City of Anna, Texas?
Provides security during Municipal Court dockets, maintaining order and the decorum of the court per the established rules of etiquette. Under immediate direction of the Municipal Court Administrator, provide law enforcement and protective services within the Municipal Court to protect City employees and the public, and foster public compliance with City, State, and Federal laws. While the Court is in session, the Court Bailiff is subject to the orders of the Presiding Judge of the Court.
Must possess a valid Class “C” Driver's License without restriction (except “A”) by date of appointment - driving record must be in compliance with City policy.
Must be a citizen of the United States, 21 years of age, clear driving record, and no felony convictions.
Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, criminal background check and MVR check.
Must have completed National Incident Management System (NIMS) training courses as outlined by Emergency Management.
Required to work flexible hours and accept on-call duty and call out statusUSE OF MACHINES, EQUIPMENT AND/OR COMPUTERS
Occasional use of complex machines and equipment (desktop/laptop computer and software, road and production machines and equipment, etc.)

- Patrol and maintain security of the Municipal Court and the Court offices.

- Monitor, operate and maintain all security equipment.
- Protect judges, prosecuting attorneys, and others from physical violence, to ensure courtroom safety and compliance with courtroom procedures.
- Ensure efficient operation and maintain order in the courtroom; call court dockets, check-in defendants, witnesses, and police officers; check-in and seat jurors for jury trials.
- Escort defendants, witnesses, and the public to assigned areas during trials; monitor persons entering the court for possible possession of weapons; inspect packages entering the courtroom for weapons or explosives.
- Communicate courteously and effectively with other City employees, officials, and the public while maintaining alertness and composure.
- Provide information, assistance and related court services to defendants and the public.
- Accept direction from supervisors and managers; keep supervisors informed of relevant activity; work well with managers, co-workers, and others both internally and externally.
- Follow and evaluate security and operating procedures and make recommendations to supervisor.
- Enforce appropriate City Ordinances, State and Federal laws, and all Court Policies.
- Call insurance companies to verify policy coverage on requests for insurance dismissal.
- Process warrants, subpoenas and other legal processes as ordered by the Municipal Court.
- Make photocopies of documents and other items for Court; transport sensitive and confidential documents and evidence as requested.
- Attend training activities and receives classroom and field instruction in job related subjects to enhance and improve skills and abilities and meets all mandated training requirements as specified by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) for the maintenance of a licensed peace officer and Bailiff-related Texas Municipal Court training sessions.
- Report any unsafe, hazardous, or perilous conditions to proper authority.
- Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
