Job Summary
General statement of duties
The City of Annapolis Recreation & Parks Department is seeking energetic and responsible camp counselors for Summer 2023. The summer begins in June and ends in August.
Essential Job Functions
Distinguishing features of the class :
An employee in this class will report directly to the Camp Director and provide assistance with the leadership of camp counselors and is directly involved in the summer camps offered by the Recreation and Parks department for local youth during the summer season.
Examples of work (illustrative only) of Camp Counselors are responsible for:
- Leading a wide variety of camp activities and classes
- Ensuring the safety, enjoyment and well-being of campers ? Utilizing the supplied curriculum to guide daily camper activities
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required knowledge, skills and abilities:
Comprehensive knowledge of the principles and practices of customer service; ability to work with the general public in a tactful way; general knowledge of first-aid/CPR practices and techniques; ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with co-workers and activity participants.
Acceptable experience and training:
Minimum age of 16 and preferred experience working with children
