ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS : The following list was developed through a job analysis; however, it is not exhaustive and other duties may be required and assigned. ESSENTIAL FUNCTION : Equipment and Vehicle Maintenance. Employee maintains City equipment and vehicles at the Museum Complex. Performs routine and scheduled preventative maintenance for City equipment and vehicles at the Museum Complex. Assists garage employees in equipment and vehicle maintenance and repair tasks.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION : Operates Light Equipment. Employee operates a variety of light equipment utilized by the Museum Complex. Operates power mowers to maintain grass and landscaping beds. Operates tractors. Monitors all equipment for needed maintenance and repairs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION : Division Labor Tasks. Employee performs a range of tasks and duties associated with Division projects and duties. Performs tasks and duties associated with grounds maintenance such as trimming, planting, mowing, watering of landscape beds and greenhouse plants. Monitors greenhouse equipment and environmental systems. Performs manual labor associated with Department projects and tasks.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION : Hand Tool Operation. Employee operates and uses various hand tools in the completion of assigned tasks and duties. Operates and uses hand tools such as trimmers, saws, concrete preparation and finishing tools and other hand tools. Monitors all hand tools for needed maintenance and repair.
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTION : Performs other job-related duties as required or assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

- Knowledge of City rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Knowledge of equipment operation and maintenance procedures. Knowledge of vehicle and equipment maintenance procedures and methods. Knowledge of safety rules including accident causation and prevention. Communication skills to effectively communicate internally and externally, both orally and in writing. Verbal skills to effectively communicate with co-workers, supervisors, and the general public. Reading skills to understand City directives, procedures, and instructions. Math skills to perform basic mathematical calculations. Ability to use a cellular telephone and two-way radio. Ability to operate equipment safely and effectively. Ability to perform concrete pouring and finishing operations. Ability to paint in accordance with established procedures and guidelines. Ability to monitor all equipment utilized for maintenance and repair needs. Ability to operate and use hand tools safely and effectively. Ability to monitor hand tools for needed maintenance and repairs. Ability to deal with all contacts in a courteous and patient manner. Ability to drive.
Minimum Qualifications Possess a high school diploma or GED. Minimum of one (1) year of work experience; prefer work experience in equipment operation, vehicle, and equipment maintenance. Possess a current and valid driver's license; must be insurable. Ability to work overtime and non-standard hours when required. Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and an initial drug screen.
Physical Demands The work requires considerable and strenuous physical exertion such as frequent climbing of tall ladders, lifting heavy objects over 50 lbs., crouching, or crawling in restricted areas.
Work Environment The work environment involves high risks with exposure to potentially dangerous situations or unusual environmental stress which require a range of safety and other precautions, e.g., working at great heights under extreme weather conditions, or similar situations where conditions cannot be controlled.
