THE POSITIONServe as Part-Time Liquor Store Clerk, nights and weekends preferred up to 28 hours per week. Responsible for the sale of products, stocking of products and customer service.at the City’s liquor store(s) and assisting in the successful operation of the City’s liquor store(s).
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
This position is responsible for providing efficient customer service including assisting customers with selections, completing purchases, and carry-outs. Operating a cash register accurately and in accordance with established procedures. Checking customer ID’s in accordance with applicable laws and policies. Restocking shelves as necessary and apparent. Receiving and handling daily incoming product shipments. Performing other duties as apparent and/or assigned.MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY: This is not an attempt to list all work operations of this job position. Duties generally include, but are not limited to the following: 1. Assist customers with selections and purchases. 2. Operate computerized inventory control system and cash register. 3. Perform opening and closing procedures. 4. Take periodic inventory counts. 5. Control shoplifting and employee theft. 6. Participate in advertising, promotions and merchandising. 7. Receive and check-in shipments. 8. Assist with training new employees. 9. Inform Liquor Store Manager of miscellaneous supplies as needed. 10. Maintain store in an attractive and neat manner.POSITION EXPECTATIONS/REQUIREMENTS: 1. Follow all applicable City, State and store laws, regulations and policies concerning sales to underage and intoxicated individuals. 2. Maintain and increase job/product knowledge through education, attendance at meetings, seminars and trade shows. 3. Maintain cleanliness, customer convenience and proper traffic flow, assuring proper display placement and shelf sets. 4. Perform customer checkouts, carry outs, stocking, etc. as needed. 5. Address customer requests and ensure complaints are handled in a friendly, competent manner. Manage problem situations including attempted purchase of product by minors, potential shoplifting problems and intoxicated people. 6. Must be able to work scheduled hours, weekends to include Sundays, holidays and callouts as required. Store hours are generally Monday through Saturday 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 pm. and Sundays 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Hours worked will be varied and will be determined by job requirements and responsibilities. 7. Creates a favorable image of the city in contacts with the Public, Elected Officials and other Organizations. 8. Must exercise initiative, discretion and independent use of judgment over matters of low significance.9. Keeps Liquor Store Manager informed of any development, which he/she will need to know to function effectively. 10. Performs other duties and assumes other responsibilities as apparent and/or as assigned by the Liquor Store Manager.
