What are the responsibilities and job description for the Paid On Call - Emergency Medical Technician position at City of Antigo?
All levels will receive an additional $5.00 per hour rate increase while on an interfacility transfer.
Responds to emergency situations by rendering emergency medical aid or advanced life support to sick, disabled or injured individuals based on signs, symptoms, or complaints, before and during transportation to or between health care facilities.

(A) Graduation from high school or GED equivalent
(B) Current Wisconsin EMS Licensure
(C) Current CPR and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) (if required)
(D) Successfully complete Emergency Vehicle Operators Course (EVOC) within 6 months of hire
MANDATORY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
(A) Must be 18 years or older at the time of employment
(B) Must possess, or be able to obtain by the time of hire, and maintain a valid State of Wisconsin driver's license
(C) Must reside, live and maintain residency within a fifteen (15) mile radius of the City limits
(D) Must have a clear criminal and caregiver background check
(E) Required to answer pages while on duty and/or on-call
(F) Must be able to read and write the English language
(G) Must provide proof of immunization records for EMSNecessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
(A) Working knowledge of driver safety
(B) Working knowledge of emergency medical care
(C) Ability to learn the operation of emergency equipment
(D) Ability to learn to apply standard emergency medical care
(E) Ability to perform strenuous or peak physical effort during an emergency situation, training or station maintenance activities for prolonged periods of time under condition of extreme heights, intense heat or cold, or smoke
(F) Ability to act effectively in emergency and stressful situations
(G) Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
(H) Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
(I) Ability to establish effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the general public
(J) Must have a working knowledge or ability and willingness to obtain a working knowledge of the following:

- Maintain prompt, predictable, and regular physical attendance
- Maintain the ability to lawfully operate designated motor vehicles and equipment at all times that duties are performed
- Maintain the ability to travel throughout and enter all different properties in the jurisdiction
- Provide truthful, accurate written and verbal communications
- Perform emergency medical activities including administering emergency medical care and providing other assistance as required
- Maintain relevant certifications as a condition of employment
- Operate emergency vehicles during all weather and all seasons in a safe and reliable manner
- Attend trainings and classes in emergency medical and related subjects as assigned
- Write reports and complete all related paperwork relative to tasks assigned
- Participate in some department sponsored community events, programs, etc.
- Respond to emergency medical calls which include medical and trauma
- Maintain information in a highly confidential manner complaint with HIPPA Privacy Act and other federal and state confidentiality regulations and in accordance with general principles of professionalism as a health care provider
- Respond to complaints; communicate resolution process to immediate supervisor and refer matters requiring administrative attention to the department head or designated representative
- Abide and assist in the implementation of safety rules and procedures
- Accept and perform weekend and week night on-call duty
- Adhere to all City of Antigo policies and Fire Department Standard Operating Guidelines (SOG)
General Maintenance
- Perform routine inspections, cleaning, and preventative maintenance on all equipment and tools prior to and upon completion of use; refer defects or needed repairs to appropriate personnel
- Clean and wash walls and floors
- Care for grounds around the station
- Wash, clean, polish, and maintain apparatus and equipment
- Maintain department apparatus and facilities
- Perform minor repairs to departmental equipment, as able, and refer other repairs to appropriate personnel
Equipment Operation
- Operate radio and other communication equipment
- Assist in department supervisory and administrative activities as assigned
- Assist in training new employees as assigned
- Perform other duties as assigned
