The City of Apple Valley, MN, is seeking an enthusiastic Video Content Creator Intern for Summer 2025. This full-time internship (40 hours/week for at least 12 weeks) provides hands-on experience in digital media and communications, serving the cities of Apple Valley, Farmington, and Rosemount. Flexible start and end dates are available.Video Production: Create high-quality, engaging videos on city-related topics, with a focus on vertical videos for social media.
Collaboration: Work with city staff across departments to develop ideas and produce content.
Support & Assistance: Help with various communications projects as needed.
Other Tasks: Perform additional duties as assigned by the Video Operations Coordinator.Education: Enrolled in or recently graduated (within one year) from a digital media or communications-related college program.
Technical Skills: Understanding of digital content creation, including video production techniques and terminology.
Video Editing Experience: e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or similar.
Camera Experience: e.g. phone, GoPro, DSLR/Mirrorless.
Equipment Use: Proficiency with video cameras and ability to carry at least 20lbs. of equipment.
Work Ethic: Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
Communication: Strong interaction skills with staff and the public.
Writing Skills: Proficient in grammar, spelling, and sentence structure.
Transportation: Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and the ability to travel amount member cities (mileage reimbursed).
Bonus: On-camera presence is welcomed but not required.
PREFERRED Qualifications:
Familiarity with Vertical Video Platforms: Meta's Reels, YouTube Shorts, TikTok, etc.
Graphic Design & Social Media: Ability to create graphics & understanding of social media.
Portfolio: Include a video resume or links showcasing produced/edited videos.
Technical Proficiency: Experience with MS365, Mac, Windows, iOS, and Android.Schedule: This position is full-time 40 hours/week for 12 consecutive weeks and has flexible start and end dates.
