Job Description
The coworking space is a designated space for working, learning, and connecting. It will serve as a hub for workforce and economic development. This space will be a destination for patrons to work independently or collaboratively, finding work or business information resources, learning about local events and workshops, and connecting with community agencies supporting economic needs. Library staff will coordinate a series of informational and educational workshops, events, and services.
We anticipate remote workers, freelance and contract workers, entrepreneurs, business owners, students, and lifelong learners will find the furniture, space, technology, and information resources they need to thrive. The coworking space is adjacent to four study rooms, two that are accessible directly from the coworking space, that patrons can use for virtual or in-person meetings, presentations, and interviews.
The space is open to all. The Coworking Space Volunteer Guide will be in the coworking space during busier times to provide patrons with an orientation to the space. They will not monitor what "work" activities patrons are engaged in but will help foster an environment conducive to working. They may support basic technology questions and refer more detailed questions to library staff.
Examples of Duties
- Greet patrons who enter the space and ask if they have used the space yet.
- Walk around the coworking space to show the features to the patron.
- Discuss the study room reservation procedures and other procedures regarding the room (could include laptop usage or checkout).
- Monitor the room to ensure the space is conducive to working and seek staff help if needed.
