What are the responsibilities and job description for the VOLUNTEER - Junior Leader Program position at City of Appleton, WI?
The City of Appleton Parks and Recreation Department is proud to offer our Junior Leader Program. This program is intended to offer young adults who are 14 years of age and older with an opportunity to gain both experience and knowledge of the skills it takes to become a leader.
Examples of Duties
Junior Leader's will assist the Playground Leaders in setting a positive example for younger children.
Typical Qualifications
To be a Junior Leader there are certain expectations to follow and various duties that may need to be completed.
- Follow and enforce all park and playground program rules.
- Accept and follow through with directives from playground leaders and be a positive role model for all park attendees and park program participants.
- Commit to and be present at the park on a regular set schedule as well as for special events.
- Help keep park clean: pick up garbage, sweep/mop shelter floors, etc.
- Assist playground leaders in planning and preparing for daily activities.
- Assist in chaperoning trips and special events as scheduled.
- Must commit to a minimum of 6 (six) hours per week.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Minimum 14 years of age
- Experience working with kids preferable in teaching or coaching setting.
- Energetic and enthusiastic individual.
- Ability to work well with others.
- Ability to plan, implement, and participate in a wide range of activities (sports, arts and crafts, etc.).
- Ability to supervise children 6-13 yrs. old.
Must commit to a minimum of 6 (six) hours per week. The program runs from Wednesday, June 11 - Thursday, August 14
Orientation will be approximately 2-hours on Tuesday, June 10.
