Valley Transit is actively seeking an experienced and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Financial Accounting Manager. This critical role is responsible for financial reporting, account analysis, and supporting the daily financial functions of Valley Transit. The Financial Accounting Manager will assist the General Manager with accounting, auditing, report preparation, and compliance with federal and state requirements. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, able to manage multiple tasks, and possess strong leadership skills. The Ideal Candidate will have: At least four to five years of accounting experience, ideally in a public utility or municipal government setting.Ability to work independently with high initiative and attention to detail.Strong knowledge of governmental accounting standards and generally accepted accounting principles.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSAssures and maintains compliance with 2 CFR 200-Uniform Administrative Requirements, Cost Principles, and Audit Requirements for Federal Awards.Manages and prepares the monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for the Fox Cities Transit Commission.Coordinates Valley Transit’s independent financial audit. Prepares necessary work papers for audit including schedules related to Valley Transit funds. Provides details for the Management and Discussion Analysis for Valley Transit funds for the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report.Manages general ledger including responsibility for journal entries and reconciling accounts related to Valley Transit.Responsible for purchase orders and payment authorizations for Valley Transit. Manages the partner municipalities and counties reimbursements to ensure accurate reconciliation of Valley Transit services.Monitors, troubleshoots, researches, and suggests enhancements to system to ensure system is operating correctly and internal controls are met. Assumes primary responsibility in the development and management of the department's operating and capital budgets. Provides monitoring and analysis of budgets to management and discusses concerns and data throughout the year. Performs fixed asset accounting and reporting for enterprise funds. Establishes an effective role as a liaison with the partnering municipalities, counties, Wisconsin Department of Transportation, and Federal Transit Administration.Provides financial operation and administrative guidance to Valley Transit management.Resolves customer complaints regarding financial concerns.
