What are the responsibilities and job description for the Volunteer - Health position at City of Appleton?
Health volunteers are instrumental in assisting Appleton Health Department (AHD) staff in a variety of different roles. This volunteer role assists AHD staff with logistical and administrative assistance for planning events, provide on-site event support ranging from event set up, production and take down, and help ensure that the AHD is appropriately represented through all aspects of the event. Volunteers will work under the direction of the Public Health COVID-19 Fellow.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

- Interacts with people with diverse racial, cultural, and economic backgrounds, gender identity, and sexual identity, treating all community members with dignity and respect.
- Participates in events planning, set-up, production, and take down
- Professionally represents the AHD at community engagement events
- Assists with administrative duties related to event planning, including working with community partners, coordinating applicable registration, and gathering required materials
- Distributes AHD surveys and resources to community members
- Educates community members on AHD programs
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor
- Superb verbal communication skills.
- The desire and motivation to educate the public.
- The ability to become knowledgeable of City of Appleton Health Department programs.
- Ability to tolerate inclement weather including humidity, heat, rain, cold, and noise.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Experience in community collaboration and public speaking
- Cultural competence in working with diverse populations, including communities of color, immigrants and persons of various ages, socioeconomic backgrounds, health status, and abilities.
