What are the responsibilities and job description for the Grounds Maintenance Worker - Cemetery position at City of Arcadia, FL?
WORK OBJECTIVE:
Under the supervision of a departmental supervisor, the incumbent performs unskilled to semi-skilled manual labor. General duties would consist of the cleaning and maintenance of municipal property. Employees utilize a variety of hand tools and equipment in the performance of tasks, and usually work in adverse environmental conditions. Work is subject to inspection while in progress and upon completion.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or equivalent; minimum of six (6) months work experience that provides knowledge of various types of manual labor. Must possess a valid state driver’s license and must obtain a valid Florida driver’s license within 30 days.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The essential functions, as outlined herein, are intended to be representative of the tasks performed within this classification. The omission of an essential function does not preclude management from assigning duties not listed if such duties are a logical assignment to the position.
1. Utilizes various manual, gas, and electrical tools and equipment in the
performance of assigned tasks, and maintains such for safe and productive use.
2. Performs minor maintenance and repair on City property as directed.
3. Cleans debris and refuse from City property regularly and in response to
emergency clean-up orders.
4. Generally responsible for maintaining grounds of the City Cemetery.
5. Performs mowing, weed eating, and tree trimming at City Cemetery.
6. Incumbent may occasionally be asked to assist in other areas of Public Works,
such as Streets, Parks, Sanitation.
7. Performs related work as directed.

Tasks involve frequent walking, standing, bending, stooping, reaching, bending, kneeling, squatting, and walking on uneven terrain. Tasks may involve the ability to climb ladders. There will be some unassisted lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling of moderately heavy objects of up to 50 pounds and occasionally heavy objects of up to 100 pounds with the assistance of other employees and/or equipment as appropriate. Tasks require hand to eye coordination for operating machinery. Work is performed in a variety of environmental conditions and may require frequent exposure to adverse conditions.
ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS
Work is performed in a variety of conditions and required frequent exposure to adverse/disagreeable environmental conditions. Person(s) in this position will be exposed to moderate noise levels, dust, and inclement weather conditions, including but not limited to, high heat levels, cold, and wet weather, and potentially adverse environments
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 - $22.59 per hour
