Under general supervision, provide a safe, clean, and efficient aquatic environment for employees and patrons. Prevent, recognize, and respond to aquatics incidents/injuries.

- Prevent and respond to emergency situations in or out of the water.
- Work effectively with the public and departmental staff to address inquiries for information, assistance, resolution of complaints, and facility maintenance.
- Assist with customer surveying projects.
- Learn and apply computer skills to register customers, authorize refunds, and account for site revenues.
- Learn and carry out work location procedures involving customer service, general office administration, safety, and facility maintenance.
- Coordinate and schedule programs such as public events, facility rentals, and special meetings.
- Operate a variety of tools and implements including a pool vacuum, air pump, and lifesaving devices such as a backboard, rescue tube, ring buoy, shepherd’s crook, and CPR/First Aid equipment.
- Operate various office machines such as a personal computer, fax machine, telephone, calculator, etc.
- Work with various organizations, individuals, and other departments to accommodate needs for facility access, program information, or facility orientation.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Knowledge of water safety principles and practices
- Knowledge of rescue methods involving water accidents and other types of traumas
- Knowledge of general office and facility management to ensure a safe and productive experience for facility users and customers.
- Ability to apply appropriate interpersonal skills with the public and city staff to maintain positive relations.
- Ability to maintain the cleanliness and safe condition of the work site.
- High school diploma or the equivalent or any equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for the above.
- Possession of life saving/guarding certification (American Red Cross)
- Demonstrated completion of CPR and First Aid for the Professional Rescuer
