Pay Range: $80,583.00-$110,184.90 Annual Assistant Fleet Manager Position Purpose Supervises daily shop operations and staff to coordinate repairs and maintenance on City owned vehicles and equipment in the most efficient manner in accordance with state and federal regulations. Essential Job Functions Administration of quality control for accountability of maintenance operations and provides recommendations for standardization, best practices, and process improvements. Keeps accurate records and performs data entry of work orders and maintenance requests. Coordinates accident repairs with vendors and risk management. Compiles, oversees, and submits reports and forms for fleet diesel emissions to state program. Acts on behalf of and assumes the duties of the Fleet Manager in their absence and represents the manager at meetings and other official functions when so directed. Schedules, plans, and prioritizes maintenance of light vehicles, heavy trucks, and city fleet equipment. Acts as technical resource for fleet staff and other city employees. Manages and directs work in emergency and snow removal operations. Responds to and resolves problems, needs, and concerns of operators in a cost-effective manner. Recommends tools and shop equipment in budget process. Controls maintenance costs. Frequently operates a personal or City-owned motor vehicle to drive to and from work locations throughout the City. Other Job Functions Performs other duties as assigned. Essential Supervisory Duties Develops and/or participates in the development of staff work plans, measures and tracks progress towards goals, prepares and conducts timely and constructive performance appraisals. Makes decisions or recommendations for hiring, promotions, transfers, disciplinary action, and other personnel actions as necessary. Coaches, counsels and supports staff to maximize efficiency and effectiveness. Consistently educates and advises staff on organizational rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Supports creative thinking and problem solving and encourages participatory decision making when appropriate. Provides training and job enrichment opportunities and encourages professional growth and development. Knowledge Skills and Abilities Requires use of standard office equipment. Requires the use of computer software systems to include but not limited to Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, ERP Software, and FASTER. Ability to effectively communicate information, both verbally and in writing, to support organizational objectives and interact with all levels of personnel within the city in a positive and cooperative manner. Must be able to operate a motor vehicle. Knowledge Skills Abilities Preferred License & Certification Must obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification for Service Consultant (C1) within one (1) year of appointment. A valid Colorado driver’s license and acceptable driving record is required. Education Degree High School/GED Education Major Education Required Yes Work Experience Related Five (5) years’ experience as auto and equipment technician and fleet administration required. Two (2) years supervisory experience required. Work Experience Preferred Experience with NAFA Fleet Management Association standards and benchmarking. Certified Automotive Fleet Manager or Specialist. CDL A. Other Qualifications Physical Demands Strenuous to extreme physical effort that includes frequent use of heavy objects (e.g., 50 pounds) and may also use heavy tools or require strenuous application in awkward positions.
