Beginning Salary: $18.020- $25.630/ hour
Class Characteristics: Under supervision, performs semi-skilled and manual labor work activities in
the construction and maintenance of wastewater lines, new service installations, and lift stations.
Performs related work as apparent or assigned.
General Duties and Responsibilities: Assists with the maintenance and construction of wastewater
lines and lift stations. Assists with new service installations. Lays lines, maps lines, washes
sewer lines, and related tasks. Performs preventive maintenance on equipment. Cleans and properly
stores equipment and tools after use. Detects malfunctions in equipment. Completes minor repairs or
makes recommendations for major repairs. May be required to be available to take after-hour calls
or respond to work-related emergencies outside of normal business hours.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Training and Experience: Graduation from high school or equivalent; one (1) year previous work
experience required for Operator I. Operator II-IV: Education supplemented by work experience
and/or education acceptable by the Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet to have obtained a Class
IV Wastewater Collection License.
Certification/Licensing Requirements: Must possess and maintain a valid commercial driver’s
license (CDL) as a condition of continued employment for higher classes, or obtain within first
year of employment as Class I. Must obtain Class I Operator license within one (1) year after
meeting experience requirements as a condition of continued employment. Higher classification must
possess appropriate WWC License issued by KY Dept. of Natural Resources & Environmental Protection
Cabinet.
Availability Requirement: Must be able to respond to calls in emergency situations at any time.
