PURPOSE OF POSITION :
This is a limited duration position, 10-15 hours / week (varies) with the main function as coordinating and participating in work parties with volunteers with the Ashland Parks & Recreation Department. This position is not eligible for benefits. Hours and schedule are varied and require flexibility and holiday / weekend availability.
This position is anticipated to last through the end of June 2025. Must be available June 10-13 and June 24-27 for the Youth Conservation Corp program.
The definition of a seasonal employee is one that is hired for a specific job for 6 months or less. These types of appointments are used for positions that occur, terminate, and recur periodically or regularly.
Essential Job Functions
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :
- Coordinate and participate in parks maintenance Adopt-a-Park work parties within all the Ashland parks such as Lithia, North Mountain, and Hunter Park sites.
- Use effective communication strategies for customers, public, APRC staff, and associated organizations to promote inclusion in the Volunteer Program.
- Works effectively with other Parks employees and the public in providing customer service.
- Educate volunteers on proper technique for caring for parks and grounds.
- Assist with the Ashland Parks Youth Conservation Corps program. Assist with Volunteer coordination for APRC special events between April and end of June.

Required Minimum Qualifications
JOB QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS :
MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS : High School Diploma or GED equivalent
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS / LICENSES : Possession of valid Oregon drivers license (or ability to obtain) and acceptable driving record may be required.
DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS : Familiarity with invasive species control and working with volunteers are desired qualities.
