Job Description

Perform custodial maintenance and general maintenance of City of Ashland facilities.ESSENTIALÂ JOBÂ FUNCTIONS:

Maintain City Facilities: Daily cleaning of restrooms. Scrub and sanitize toilets and sinks; replenish paper products in restrooms and restock cleaning supplies; remove trash; clean walls, ceilings and exterior as needed; sweep, mop and sanitize floors.

Vacuum and clean carpets; mop and wax hallways, break rooms and other facility areas.

Â

Remove trash from office spaces, breakrooms and other facilities areas. Â

Remove, scrub off, paint over any graffiti.

Â

Perform minor maintenance such as preventative maintenance, painting, patching drywall, changing overhead light bulbs, furniture reconfiguration and small plumbing repairs as needed.

Â

Log and communicate any safety, maintenance, vandalism issues.

Always represent the City of Ashland with excellent customer service.

Works independently in the absence of supervision.Â

Must be able to work a 40-work week.

Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and some holidays.

Auxiliaryâ Jobâ Functions

Make suggestions and recommendations to supervisor concerning ways of improving maintenance and reducing costs.

Â

Adhere to all safety regulations and requirements for the use of power and hand tools and equipment. Follow all safe rules and procedures established for work areas. Follow safety protocol when mixing and using cleaning supplies, chemicals, paint products and fuel.Â

Maintain work areas in a clean and orderly manner. Keep work truck and carts clean, organized, ready for next use. Move furniture. Work effectively with other employees and the public.

Perform other duties as may be required.

This is a non-supervisory position.

SUPERVISIONÂ RECEIVED

Works under the general supervision of the Facilities Supervisor.JOBÂ QUALIFICATIONÂ REQUIREMENTS:

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma or equivalent. Requires familiarity with the use of equipment and tools used in custodial tasks such as a broom, mop, basic hand tools; familiarity with general maintenance tools. Ability to effectively communicate and interact with public. Basic computer skills.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS/LICENSES:Â Valid Oregon driver's license and clean driving record required. Must pass background check.

EXPERIENCE:Â One (1) year of custodial experience involving the use of chemicals required in cleaning and maintenance of buildings and facilities. Knowledge and experience recording and maintaining Safety Data Sheets on all chemicals used by staff.

DESIRABLE ATTRIBUTES:Â Custodial experience preferred. General maintenance experience preferred. Experience in and understanding of minor maintenance, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, gates, and painting.

Work is performed primarily in an interior environment, with some exterior duties.
