Public Works /Water Operator

Job Summary
The Director of Public Works is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing the planning, implementation, and management of public works projects and services. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong analytical skills who can effectively manage resources and personnel to ensure the delivery of high-quality public services. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of infrastructure maintenance, heavy equipment operation, and project management.

Duties

• Develop and implement policies and procedures for the efficient operation of public works services.
• Oversee the maintenance and repair of public infrastructure including roads, bridges, and drainage systems.
• Manage heavy equipment operations and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
• Analyze research data collection to inform decision-making processes related to public works projects.
• Coordinate with various departments and stakeholders to ensure alignment on project goals and timelines.
• Supervise staff, providing training and support to enhance performance and professional development.
• Maintain records of service requests, work orders, and project progress.
• Utilize basic math skills for budgeting, resource allocation, and project estimation.
• Conduct inspections of public works facilities to ensure compliance with regulations and standards.
• Manage heavy lifting tasks associated with maintenance projects as required.

Requirements

• Proven experience in public works management or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of distributed control systems and logic controllers.
• Ability to analyze complex data sets and research findings effectively.
• Experience in plumbing or related technical skills is a plus.
• Proficiency in operating heavy equipment safely and efficiently.
• Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams towards common goals.
• Strong communication skills to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
• Must be able to perform heavy lifting as needed for various projects.
• A valid driver's license is required; experience operating tankers is preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.06 - $29.08 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
