General Description:
For the duration of summer camp, this position will monitor swimmers at indoor and or outdoor City pools, maintain strict observance to safety rules and procedures; preform rescues for distressed swimmers using rescue techniques and equipment; teach Learn to Swim and track progress for youth and seniors.Supervision Received
Works under direct supervision and follows standardized procedures and written instructions to accomplish assigned tasks.Essential Duties & Responsibilities These are typical responsibilities for this position and should not be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. May perform other duties as assigned.
- Rescues distressed swimmers using rescue techniques and equipment in an indoor and or outdoor pool setting.
- Examines injured persons and administers first aid or CPR, if necessary.
- Contacts emergency personnel in case of serious injury.
- Patrols or monitors assigned area of municipal pool and ensures that all safety and health rules are being followed.
- Teach Learn to Swim for youth and seniors using approved agency modules; track progression using resources provided
- Completes and maintains records.
- Maintains quality of pool water by testing chemical levels.
- Facility maintenance including but not limited to: cleaning restroom toilets, sinks, urinals, showers, floors, office areas, pool deck, entrances and walkways.
- Warns swimmers of inclement weather, unsafe areas or safety infractions.
- Inspects safety equipment e.g. Life rings, extension poles, emergency stretchers or accessories, emergency medical kits, personnel lifts to ensure that all are in good working order. Report deficiencies deemed unsafe for pool operations and/or that may cause harm to patrons
