Job Description:
The Mayor’s Office of Sustainability and Resilience (MOSR) seeks a Communications Manager to support the City of Atlanta’s ambitious sustainability and climate resilience initiatives. The work of the Office of Sustainability and Resilience encompasses clean energy, transportation electrification, climate resilience, building decarbonization, urban agriculture and food systems and community engagement. A successful applicant will provide overall communication, marketing and engagement support including, but not limited to internal communications, external communications with key stakeholders (i.e., social media, community partners and residents). This role will be tasked with designing “a storytelling approach” that goes beyond the traditional to ensure MOSR activities supporting the Mayor’s agenda are amplified and that we are communicating clearly and routinely with key stakeholders . The ideal candidate will be ready to deliver impactful communications that ensure that all parts of the Atlanta community have the knowledge, support, and resources necessary to reduce our vulnerability to the increasing quality of life risks driven by climate change .

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop a comprehensive communications strategy including metrics and analysis that will advance the City’s climate action goals.
- Provide direct support for all team members and any consultants for any communications needs.
- Develop and maintain productive relationships with our many stakeholders, community-based organizations, community members, advisory committees and partner agencies.
- Lead the implementation of a comprehensive communications strategy that will advance the City’s climate action goals including brand management, content creation and, social media engagement.
- Coordinate and mainstream internal and external communications activities related to climate preparedness within City Hall.
- Coordinate and execute key communication functions for MOSR with the Mayor’s Office of Communications and leverage or create internal and external communication tools to increase awareness of the City’s sustainability and climate resilience goals.
- Support the Chief Sustainability Officer and office leadership with the design and implementation of core communication practices, templates and procedures.
- Stay current with the latest sustainability and climate resilience developments to convey them in practical terms as needed to internal and external stakeholders.
- Write and prepare reports regarding the City’s sustainability and climate resilience policies, programs and initiatives.
- Serve as the MOSR Public Information Officer (PIO).

Minimum Entrance Qualifications:
- Knowledge of prevailing best practices in communications
- Passion for storytelling to affect social change
- Four (4) years of full-time, or equivalent experience in Communications, Marketing, or related discipline.
- Familiarity with the City of Atlanta, local city neighborhoods, and key stakeholders
- Experience with GIS and Adobe Suite
