GENERAL SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for managing the City’s park system, overseeing and implementing environmental stewardship programs within the City's park system, coordinating with and supporting the City’s Recreation program, as well as managing park maintenance operations. This role requires a strong understanding of environmental science, park management principles, events and program planning and maintenance practices. The Manager will work closely with the Recreation Manager, other City staff, volunteers, and community partners to protect and enhance the natural resources of the City's parks, while ensuring that parks are well-maintained and accessible to the public.

Ability to plan, organize, control and evaluate the parks maintenance division. Ability to develop, recommend and present parks division goals and objectives within the context of departmental policies and priorities. Ability to develop and implement short and long range budget plans that accurately reflect parks division needs.
Ability to plan, assign, and supervise the work of others. Ability to read, interpret and enforce laws and regulations in accordance with City policy; maintain records and prepare clear, complete and concise reports. Ability to evaluate situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action.
Ability to deal effectively with the public; Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with the public and other agencies including ability to speak and write effectively and clearly. Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 20lbs.

- Develop and implement environmental stewardship programs, such as habitat restoration, invasive species control, and water quality monitoring.
- Coordinate with the Recreation manager, other City staff, volunteers, and community partners to ensure the successful execution of City programs and events.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of environmental stewardship programs.
- Oversee Park maintenance operations, including landscaping, irrigation, and facility upkeep.
- Develop and implement park maintenance plans and schedules.
- Manage maintenance staff and budget.
- Ensure that parks are clean, safe, and accessible to the public.
- Educate the public about environmental stewardship and the importance of protecting park resources.
- Develop and maintain partnerships with community organizations, schools, and businesses.
- Facilitate volunteer opportunities for community members to participate in environmental stewardship activities.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable environmental regulations, including those related to endangered species, water quality, and land use.
- Coordinate with regulatory agencies to obtain necessary permits and approvals.
- Develop and manage budgets for environmental stewardship programs and park maintenance operations.
- Monitor expenses and ensure adherence to budget guidelines.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement strategies to maximize resources.
- Attend professional association meetings as required.
