The City of Auburn Engineering department is looking for a talented Engineering Design Technician to add to our team! PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT

Primary Duties
Key Responsibilities:
- Civil 3D Design & Drafting – Create detailed construction drawings, including plans, profiles, sections, and details for transportation, water, sewer, and storm drainage projects using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Technical Support & Collaboration – Assist engineers, the Design Technician Manager, and other technical staff with design and drafting tasks while providing technical information to internal teams and the public.
- Topographic Review & Field Verification – Analyze survey base maps, review as-builts and utility records, and conduct field investigations to ensure design accuracy and completeness.
- Engineering Calculations & Quantity Takeoffs – Perform technical calculations related to civil infrastructure design and assist with cost estimation by conducting quantity takeoffs for capital improvement projects.
- Standards Compliance & Document Management – Ensure designs align with City standards and regulations while maintaining accurate project records and utilizing tools like Bluebeam and Microsoft Office for documentation.

Minimum Qualifications
We are looking for candidates who have:
- A blend of education and experience, including two (2) years college-level course work in civil engineering and drafting combined with Three (3) years of hands-on experience civil engineering design and drafting experience using Civil Engineering Design Software. Candidates should posses advanced expertise and knowledge of computer-aided drafting and design (CADD) software, proficiency in the most versions of AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
Note: Additional experience may substitute for the educational requirement on a year for year basis.

- Possess and retain a valid state driver’s license without impending loss at time of appointment.
