Position Details
The Parks & Recreation Department is looking to hire a Mobile Recreation Lead and Assistant for our mobile recreation program. This position will act as the lead staff for the Auburn Parks mobile recreation program known as Rec n Roll. Rec n Roll is a mobile recreation program that brings a summer camp style experience to various parks throughout Auburn. Throughout the summer, the Rec n Roll van will visit over 15 different parks and schools across Auburn. This position will lead various games, sports, and craft activities for children who attend the program.
Note: This is a non-benefited position that performs its duties in support of the Parks, Arts, and Recreation Department.
Primary Duties
- Implements and monitors the mobile recreation program including, but not limited to, summer camps and/or mobile recreation program; assists in planning program themes, activities, games, and projects; orders supply, tracks spending, and inventories equipment.
- Prepares rooms, vehicles, and areas for programs including moving, setting up, taking down, and cleaning, supplies, and/or equipment.
- Assists City staff with programs, activities, special events, day-of-event duties, volunteers, and/or facilities, as assigned.
- Supports the department fleet services including, but not limited to, cleaning vehicles, fueling, checking equipment for appropriate supplies; and reporting service needs, as needed.
- Provides oversight to other non-benefitted or volunteer recreation staff to ensure programs are running as planned/scheduled.
Mobile Recreation Program Assistant:
- Assist in implementation of the mobile recreation program following guidance form the program lead.
- Set up and take down program equipment and supplies.
- Interact with program participants in a fun and supportive matter.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma, or equivalent.
- Two years or summer seasons of prior experience in recreation or a related field, through work or education.
- Possess and retain a valid state driver's license without impending loss at time of appointment.
- Possess or have the ability to obtain a valid CPR and First Aid certificate within three (3) weeks of appointment.
- Possession of a King County Public Health Department Food Handler's Permit may be required within one (1) month of employment as a condition of work.
Mobile Recreation Program Assistant:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- At least one year or summer season of prior experience in recreation or a related field, through work or education.
