What are the responsibilities and job description for the Facilities Manager position at City of Auburn?
The City of Auburn is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Facilities Manager to oversee the maintenance and custodial services of City-owned buildings. This is a full-time, professional management position that works closely with the Mayor and other City leadership to manage resources, contractors, and staff while maintaining high standards of service.In this role, you will:
- Oversee building maintenance, ensuring that facilities and systems are properly maintained, and custodial services are provided as required.
- Supervise, train, and evaluate building maintenance and custodial staff, setting priorities, reviewing performance, and ensuring work quality.
- Research and manage vendors and contractors for services outside of maintenance staff responsibilities, ensuring high-quality work and adherence to City standards.
- Monitor and manage the budget for the facilities division, including tracking expenses for projects and contracts under your purview.
- Provide excellent service to internal and external stakeholders, including working with City leadership on space management studies and building needs, ensuring optimal use of City facilities and recommend improvements.
We are looking for candidates who have:
- A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Maintenance Management, Public Administration, or related field; and
- At least four (4) years of progressively responsible public property management experience; and
- At least two (2) years of supervisory experience; OR
- A combination of education, training, and experience that would indicate successful completion of the essential functions of the job.
Please note: The person in this position has unescorted access to all City facilities including the Police Department, and as such is required to be fingerprinted and complete Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Certification (per Washington State Patrol ACCESS unit). Fingerprinting will be completed only if selected as the final candidate, prior to a formal appointment being made.
