What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maker Space Specialist position at City of Auburn?
This is a leadership role in the Auburn Community Center Maker Space. The Maker Space is a technology driven creative space where people of all ages come together to make and create, building off of individual or shared ideas. It is a space where technology meets the arts, science or math. Currently the Auburn Maker Space includes an Epilog Laser Printer, a 3-D printer, a US Cutter Vinyl Plotter, Vinyl Heat Press, a Jewelry Kiln, limited woodworking tools, robotics and LEGO kits, and more.The Make Space Specialist will be responsible for the following duties in collaboration with the Recreation Coordinator.
Major or minor field of study in recreation, education, or related field is desirable.RECRUITMENT PROCESS

- Recruit and train volunteers
- Organize an Open Make calendar and schedule volunteers accordingly
- Manage materials and supplies
- Maintain records of maintenance and cleaning of all machines
- Conduct scheduled cleaning and maintenance of all machines
- Conduct training on the machines for individuals and small groups
- Work with the Recreation Coordinator to develop and schedule classes
- Facilitate private group classes
- Track volunteer hours
- Update and maintain the Maker Space Social Media accounts
- Maintain cleanliness of the space and materials as they pertain to programs
- Work with the Recreation Coordinator to develop Maker Space programming for the REC Teen Center
- Be at least 21 years of age
- Have current first aid and CPR certification, or be willing to obtain certification within 15 days of employment.
- Be able to pass a background check.
- Have experience working with youth from the pre-school age through Senior Adults.
- Be able to lift 40 lbs.
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to facilitate trainings and classes
- Strong organizational skills
- Enthusiasm for Making and sharing creative opportunities with the community
- Experience with Laser Cutters, Vinyl Plotters and 3-D printers
- Proficient knowledge of the following programs: CorelDraw, Sure Cuts A Lot, Illustrator, & Silhouette.
