What are the responsibilities and job description for the Recreation Leader I - Childcare position at City of Auburn?
Drop-in Childcare, within our Parks & Recreation Department is seeking to add new and dynamic Recreation Leader I staff. Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, this position is responsible for supervising children ages 4 months-10 years old. This is a part-time position, childcare is open 9am-1:30pm Monday-Friday and 4:15-8pm Monday-Thursday. We are currently hiring for Monday and Thursday evening shifts. Hours may vary with additional hours as a sub when available. Additional hours may be available with other programs.
Recreation Leader: Organizes, plans, implements and leads recreation activities such as games, small group activities, arts & crafts.
- Provide active and engaging care for all children in childcare ranging in age from 4 months-10 years old.
- Secure and maintain all materials and equipment for assigned programs.
- Plan, set up/clean up and lead children in developmentally appropriate activities including games, arts & crafts, etc.
- Ensure a safe and stimulating environment for all children.
- Responds to comments, questions, and complaints from program participants.
- Observes necessary precautions to secure the safety of recreation participants and spectators, and renders routine first aid in cases of minor injury.
- Maintains records: sign in/sign out sheets, waivers, individual child registration forms pertaining to Kids Playtime.
- Attends staff meetings and trainings as assigned.
- Maintain order and cleanliness in the childcare space.
- Performs other related duties of a comparable level/type as assigned.
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- First Aid and CPR certification must be completed within 15 days of employment. (Training will be provided by the City.)
