What are the responsibilities and job description for the Teen Outreach Leader position at City of Auburn?
These positions will work out of the Teen Center in Les Gove Park and will include extensive outreach in the schools. Hours may vary, but will typically be 12:00 Noon-5:00 p.m., Monday-Friday and one Friday night per month.
The Teen Supervisor is responsible for assisting in the operation of teen program.
Teen Center SupervisorThis position will assist the Teen Coordinator to ensure a quality program, including interviewing and training employees, scheduling employees, ensuring safety, overseeing day-to-day activities, and supervising children. Recreation staff have the primary responsibility of ensuring the safety of program participants.
- Assist with the daily operations and scheduling of the Teen Center (The REC).
- Assist in the leadership and development of temporary staff and volunteers.
- Assist with promotions, publicity and recruitment in schools and community.
- Liaison with local churches, libraries and community groups to recruit and retain participants.
- Work with schools and families to insure low-income student participation.
- Liaison with Auburn School District to facilitate McKinney-Vento teen participation.
- Assist in the promotion and logistics of transportation provided by Auburn School District to and from The REC.
- Assist with maintenance and updating of the The REC website and social media.
- Liaison with Facility and Recreation Coordinators for use of The REC and Community Center facilities.
- Interact with participants in a positive and supportive manner, providing a role model for participants at all times.
- Follows written and verbal instructions and provides clear verbal and written instructions to staff and supervisor.
- Deals tactfully and courteously with the public and coworkers during difficult customer service situations.
- Enforces department rules and regulations.
- Attends training sessions required by the department
- Keep accurate attendance records of program activities.
- Set up equipment for program activities and store equipment and clean facility at end of program.
- Be proactive in resolving conflict among youth and ensuring a safe environment.
Teen Supervisor
- Must be 21 years of age.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in recreation or related field is required.
- Occasionally may work an evening and or weekend.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
- First Aid/CPR certification and Food Handlers card are required which must be obtained within 15 days of employment.
- Must possess a valid, current state driver's license with no pending risk of loss at time of appointment.
Preferred Qualifications
- An undergraduate degree in Recreation Administration or equivalent
