DESCRIPTION
Responsible for patron service in the branch library, including circulating materials, providing reference assistance, presenting children's programming, and managing the branch in the absence of the branch manager or assistant branch manager.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manages branch in the absence of branch manager / assistant manager and serves as resource to subordinate personnel
Provides circulation, reference, and readers' advisory services, and homework assistance
Assists patrons with the use of the public computers, printers and photocopiers
Prepares cash reports, collects statistics, maintains bulletin boards and other signage and performs opening and closing routines
Maintains the collection by processing new materials and assists in shelving and shelf-reading
Prepares and presents children's programming in-house and in the community
Orders supplies and voter registration supplies for the branch
Pulls holds from hold list from the online catalog system and mails books to other libraries in Georgia
Receives new periodicals and processes them for circulation and maintains the collection
Assists with the weeding of books, magazines and other library materials
Serves on staff and planning committees as required
POSITION SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES MIGHT INCLUDE :
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education : High School Diploma or GED

Experience : Two (2) years of library and customer service experience

Licensing :
Possession of a valid driver's license with good driving history. If state license is other than Georgia or South Carolina, applicant must obtain a license in Georgia or South Carolina within 30 days of employment.

Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation.
Sensory Requirements : Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
Environmental Factors : Essential functions are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
